A general rule is that the smaller the file the more likely a successful delivery will be achieved.
For images a portrait layout is recommended since this will look best on the majority of receiving devices.

Image file resolution recommendation
Many images held on computers which are generated from art packages or from digital camera photographs have very high resolutions, to give some perspective on what is a large size a full HD television is 1920 x 1080 pixels.
- One of the latest cutting edge handsets to be released this year was the HTC Hero which has a screen resolution of 320 x 480 pixels.
- A Nokia N95 has 240 x 320 pixels.
- Older handsets typically have screen resolutions around 60 x 96 pixels.
To get best results you should try to keep your image a small as possible without compromising on your design. Use 320 x 480 pixels as your upper limit when creating images that require great detail.
Commonly one would expect image files to be delivered to mobile devices to be in the range of 10 to 30kb.

* Unicast does not impose a maximum file size, large files may be sent but these should be sent using low range radio and accompanied by signage to inform people that there is a broadcast in their vicinity and should wait patiently for the content to be received.
